On a more personal note…
As many of you know, I’ve hidden more twenties on Boylston St. than anywhere else. Under cones, behind signs, in Walgreens, New Balance, ATM’s, The Four Seasons, tons in Whiskey’s, The Lenox Hotel, CVS, Solas, New Balance, in the T, statutes, outside the Old South Church… And in 2011 I saw my dear friend James for the last time outside the Tedeschi’s, which sits right between where the sites of the two explosions. He suffered a tragic accident later that...

Call me cynical, but I’m dubious when I read someone blog about an experience. When a serious blogger isn’t blogging, he (or she) is probably thinking about his blog and whether what he’s doing is blogworthy. Knowing he’ll be writing about his experience, he’ll alter his behavior just for the sake of his blog. Both the experience and the blog entry become disingenuous. At the very least, he was thinking about his blog the whole time, and that shapes the moment. If he omits those...

Lately I’ve been asked lots of questions about hiding money. Have I ever been spotted? What are my tricks? How do I avoid detection? These are reasonable inquiries, as few people hide cash in public places. (I’m sure I’m in esteemed company though. Eesh.) I asked Brendan Lynch, the reporter, to reveal in his story that we left $100 up on the Bunker Hill Monument. He went for it! So around 10 p.m. I trekked over to Charlestown, then climbed those steps up to the monument. The spotlights gave me enough light to pick a spot, the leg of museum style-display (see the pic). I had to wait for some dude walking his dog to make my move...

Wednesday night I went for a walk to hide a 20 and grab some souvenir Metros out of those bins. Most of them were empty but I managed to collect about 25. What for, I’m not sure yet. Then I realized I forgot my trusty tape, which meant I’d probably have to wedge or bury the envelope somewhere. So that spot outside the Old South Church was perfect, though I literally got my hands dirty stashing it under that rock. One passerby looked at me funny, but he wasn’t suspicious because I just...
